Pre-workout is the category where you are paying least for ingredients and most for presentation. In Malta it runs from about €5.55 to €12.88 per 100 g, with a median near €9.26 — the highest median of anything we track here. This page shows what it actually costs across Maltese shops, rebuilt every morning from their own storefronts, so you can see where a tub sits before you buy it.

Prices are collected automatically from each retailer’s own public storefront and normalised to € per 100 g so packs of different sizes can be compared fairly. They can change at any time — always confirm on the retailer’s page before ordering. CapyFuel sells nothing, so no CapyFuel product is in this table — every row is an independent retailer, ranked on price alone.
Why € per 100 g is a rougher guide here
We publish the per-100 g figure for consistency, but it is worth being straight about its limits in this category. Serving sizes differ a lot from one pre-workout formula to the next — a light stimulant powder and a dense pump-and-pump-plus-stim blend can call for very different scoop weights — so two tubs at the same price per 100 g do not necessarily cost the same per session. Where a listing states a serving count, cost per serving is the better number, and the cost calculator will work it out for you.
The other complication is that “pre-workout” is not one product. It covers everything from plain caffeine to long stimulant-and-pump blends to fully stim-free formulas. Comparing across those on price alone is a bit like pricing shoes by weight, which is why the ingredient panel matters more here than in any other category we track.
What to read on the label
Look for a full ingredient breakdown with amounts. The single most useful thing a pre-workout label can do is tell you how much of each ingredient a serving contains. A blend that lists ingredients without individual amounts — often called a proprietary blend — makes it impossible to know whether the interesting components are present in meaningful quantities or as a trace. That is a transparency problem regardless of what the ingredients are.
Check the caffeine figure specifically. It is the ingredient most people are actually responding to, it varies enormously between products, and it is the one most likely to matter for how you sleep. If you train in the evening, or simply do not want the stimulant, our guide on pre-workout without caffeine and stim-free formulas covers what is left once you take it out.
Treat the price gap sceptically. A tub at the top of this table costs more than double one at the bottom. Some of that buys genuinely fuller dosing. A good deal of it buys flavour range, packaging and marketing.
What we will and will not tell you it does
We do not attach performance claims to pre-workout products, on this page or anywhere else on the site. Where a benefit is formally authorised for an ingredient we quote the approved wording exactly; where it is not, we describe the product for what it is and leave the judgement to you. For this category that means we will tell you what is in a tub, how much it costs per serving, and how it compares to the others on the island — and we will not tell you how it will make you feel or perform.
That restraint is deliberate rather than coy. Pre-workout is the category with the loudest marketing and the least settled evidence, so a straight price and ingredient comparison is genuinely more useful than another confident opinion.

Frequently asked questions
How much does pre-workout cost in Malta?
Across the 13 listings we track at Maltese retailers, pre-workout ranges from about €5.55 to €12.88 per 100 g, with a median near €9.26 — the highest median of any category we track here.
Is price per 100 g a fair way to compare pre-workouts?
Less so than in other categories. Serving sizes differ a lot from one pre-workout to the next, so two tubs at the same price per 100 g do not necessarily cost the same per session. Where a listing states a serving count, cost per serving is the better number.
What should I look for on a pre-workout label?
A full ingredient breakdown with individual amounts. A blend that lists ingredients without quantities makes it impossible to know whether the interesting components are present meaningfully or as a trace. Check the caffeine figure specifically — it varies enormously and is the ingredient most likely to affect your sleep.
Does a more expensive pre-workout work better?
We do not attach performance claims to pre-workout products. What we can say is that the top of this table costs more than double the bottom, that some of that buys fuller dosing, and that a good deal of it buys flavour range, packaging and marketing. The ingredient panel tells you more than the price does.
What if I train in the evening and do not want the stimulant?
Stim-free formulas remove the question entirely. Our guide on pre-workout without caffeine and stim-free formulas covers what remains in a product once the stimulant is taken out.
How often are these prices updated?
Every morning, from each retailer's own public storefront, normalised to € per 100 g so pack sizes compare fairly.
