Supplement Prices in Cyprus: What You Should Actually Pay

Comparing supplement prices in Cyprus is harder than it should be. Shops list different pack sizes, different brands and different serving claims, so the shelf price rarely tells you which is better value. This page collects the listed prices from Cypriot supplement retailers’ own online stores automatically and converts every one of them to euro per 100 g, which is the only way to compare a 900 g pouch against a 5 kg sack honestly.

The tables refresh automatically and include our competitors. Where another Cypriot retailer beats us on price, they are listed above us.

Why per 100 g is the number that matters

Cypriot shops stock everything from 300 g tubs to 5 kg bags, often of the same product. Dividing price by weight is the only way to see through that. Two caveats we would rather state than hide: per 100 g of powder is not per 100 g of protein, so a concentrate and an isolate will not compare like for like — check the label’s protein content. And we exclude mass gainers and carbohydrate powders entirely, because they are largely maltodextrin and would otherwise sit at the top of a “cheapest protein” table while being a different product altogether.

To check a specific product yourself, including cost per serving and per 100 g of protein, use our supplement value calculator.

Ordering from mainland Europe: what actually applies

No customs duty and no import VAT apply to an order from another EU country. Cyprus is inside the EU customs union, and the EU states plainly that no customs duties are payable on goods moving between EU countries (European Union — Customs). On EU distance sales the seller charges destination-country VAT and settles it via the One Stop Shop, so there is nothing extra to pay when the parcel arrives (Your Europe — VAT One Stop Shop).

That is worth knowing because the fear of a surprise customs bill puts people off ordering from mainland retailers unnecessarily. It applies to EU-origin orders. Orders from outside the EU — including the UK since Brexit — are a different regime and can attract charges.

What genuinely raises Cypriot prices is freight: an island at the far eastern edge of the single market has no road-freight option, and that cost shows up somewhere. We have not found a credible published figure for the size of that premium, so we are not going to put a number on it.

Delivery costs at Cypriot supplement shops

Delivery thresholds vary far more in Cyprus than the product prices do, and on a single tub they can matter more than the price itself. Figures below are taken from each retailer’s own published pages.

Retailer Free delivery over Otherwise Stated time
Supplement House €50 Not stated Same day if ordered before 12:00; 1–2 working days
ED Sport €60 Not stated Not stated
VIP Supplements €149 Not stated Local same-day options from two locations
CySupplements No threshold stated Flat €2 About 1 business day to your nearest courier point
Nutrition CY Advertises free delivery Also advertises €2 home delivery Next day

Two honest notes. Nutrition CY advertises both “free delivery to all Cyprus” and a “€2 home delivery” option on the same page without explaining the difference — most likely a pickup-point versus doorstep distinction, but we could not confirm it, so check at checkout. And the €149 threshold at VIP Supplements is the figure currently published on their own site; older figures circulate in search results.

One quirk of buying in Cyprus that catches people out: several retailers default to courier pickup points rather than your door. Doorstep delivery is often available on request for a small extra charge. If you want it delivered to your home, say so at checkout rather than assuming.

What to check before you buy

  • Compare per 100 g, then check the protein percentage. The cheapest powder is not always the cheapest protein.
  • Factor in the delivery threshold. With thresholds ranging from €50 to €149, the cheapest tub is frequently not the cheapest order.
  • Check the amino acid profile on blends. The most consistent complaint from Cypriot buyers is about protein blends padded out with cheap filler or carbohydrate. A product that looks good per 100 g of powder and poor per 100 g of protein is the tell. Our guide to reading a supplement label explains what to look for.
  • Buy from an identifiable seller. Whether local or a brand’s own store, a retailer with a real presence and a published returns policy is a safer bet than an anonymous marketplace listing.

Who regulates supplements sold in Cyprus

Food supplements sold in Cyprus fall under the Director of Medical and Public Health Services at the Ministry of Health. There are two routes: a notification of distribution, for products already legally sold in another EU member state, and a full distribution licence for products not yet legally distributed elsewhere in the EU or that exceed vitamin and mineral limits. The licence route carries a stated fee of €50 per supplement and a decision within 120 days (Business in Cyprus — Food Supplements Distribution).

Cypriot law defines a food supplement as a concentrated source of nutrients marketed in dose form, and specifically requires that it must not have a medicinal effect — a product that does is regulated as a medicine instead. If a seller cannot tell you whether a product is notified, that is a fair reason to hesitate.

How this page is put together

Prices are collected automatically from each retailer’s own public online storefront, normalised to euro per 100 g, and refreshed regularly. The date each listing was last checked is shown above each table. Prices change without notice, so treat this as a shortlist and confirm on the retailer’s page before ordering.

We take no payment for placement and do not exclude competitors who beat us; the ranking is a straight sort on price per 100 g. If a pack size looks misread or a price has moved, tell us at [email protected] and we will fix it.

Price is only half the question. We also review these products on what their labels declare — protein density, what has been added, and whether free amino acids are in the mix.

Frequently asked questions

How much does whey protein cost in Cyprus?

Pack size drives the price far more than brand does. The table on this page ranks every whey listing we track from Cypriot retailers by price per 100 g, cheapest first, with the date each price was last checked. Larger bags are consistently better value per 100 g than small tubs.

Will I pay customs or import charges on supplements delivered to Cyprus from the EU?

No. Cyprus is inside the EU customs union, so no customs duties apply to goods arriving from another EU country, and there is no import VAT to pay on delivery. On EU distance sales the seller charges VAT at the destination rate and settles it through the One Stop Shop. Orders from outside the EU, including the UK since Brexit, follow a different regime and can attract charges.

Why is delivery in Cyprus sometimes to a pickup point rather than my door?

Several Cypriot retailers default to courier pickup points. Doorstep delivery is usually available if you request it, often for a small extra charge. If you want it delivered to your home, select or ask for that at checkout rather than assuming it is the default.

Which Cypriot supplement shops offer free delivery?

Thresholds vary widely. Based on each retailer's own published pages, Supplement House states free shipping over 50 euro, ED Sport over 60 euro, and VIP Supplements over 149 euro. CySupplements publishes a flat 2 euro shipping charge with no threshold. Because the thresholds differ so much, the cheapest tub is often not the cheapest total order.

How do I avoid mislabelled or padded protein powders?

The most consistent complaint from Cypriot buyers is about blends padded with cheap filler or carbohydrate. The tell is a product that looks good per 100 g of powder but poor per 100 g of protein, so check the protein content per serving on the label rather than the headline price. Buying from a retailer with a real presence and a published returns policy also helps.

Why do you exclude mass gainers from the cheapest protein table?

Mass gainers and carbohydrate powders are largely maltodextrin and are very cheap per 100 g. Including them would place them at the top of a cheapest-protein ranking while being a completely different product, which would make the comparison misleading.

Does CapyFuel put itself at the top of these tables?

No. The ranking is a straight sort on price per 100 g and competitors who beat us are listed above us. We take no payment for placement and do not remove cheaper retailers.

Who regulates food supplements sold in Cyprus?

The Director of Medical and Public Health Services at the Ministry of Health. Products already legally sold in another EU member state can be notified for distribution; products that are not, or that exceed vitamin and mineral limits, need a distribution licence, which carries a stated fee of 50 euro per supplement and a decision within 120 days. Cypriot law also requires that a food supplement must not have a medicinal effect.
